Our People - Your Advantage
When you decide to have us repair or service your transmission, or gearbox, we take the responsibility seriously. We know that the cost can be significant and that your vehicle is important to you. At The Gearbox Factory one of our dedicated sales consultants will be assigned to look after your vehicle from start to finish. They will ensure that work progresses without unnecessary delays and costs. They know it can be a stressful time and will do their utmost to get your vehicle back to you as quickly as possible.
Due to the complexity and technical aspects of modern transmissions our technicians are trained internally and internationally. Because of our size we also have various specialists in house, with the resources and knowledge to do the job on any vehicle. Our people - your advantage!

Steve Hamilton – Automatic Transmission Manager
Steve has worked for The Gearbox Factory, first as a transmission technician and then in a sales capacity, for over 25 years now. Because of his time initially as a technician, he is very well qualified to handle any queries that you may have. Also to keep his hand in, he is often still seen out on the work bench helping his staff.

Chris Hogg – Manual Transmission Manager
Chris has worked for The Gearbox Factory for nearly 30 years now. Prior to coming to us, he had 10 years working as a mechanic in the automotive industry. He consequently now has nearly 40 years of manual gearbox and differential experience. He initially started with us as a manual mechanic and then moved into sales. It is not uncommon however to see him back out on the tools passing on his knowledge and expertise to his staff, as well as customers.

Steph Dakin - Service Manager
Steph started with The Gearbox Factory in 2015, initially in a part time capacity as Office Manager, however with her love for anything mechanical and her charismatic personality, it wasn't long before she became full time and was moved more into customer services thus utilising her exceptional customer service skills. She now manages all our customers service requirements and also co-ordinates the day to day running of our torque converter department.

Paul Harrison – Marketing Manager & backup for automatic and manual Sales Managers
Paul worked initially for The Gearbox Factory as a manual rebuilder for 12 years. He left us in 2016 for his OE and worked for VW in London for 3 years as a technician. Upon his return to New Zealand, he started back with us, this time in a marketing/sales roll. With his practical mechanical experience, he is perfectly positioned to back up both Steve Hamilton, and Chris Hogg in sales, as and when needed.
